Pat winter's studio

I just love Pat's studio even though is not a papercraft one, i think everyone can get loads of good storage ideas.

In her own words:

I'm pretty content in my studio which is a converted spare bedroom in my home. I am a crazy quilter who experiments with a variety of other crafts which uses seed beads. My husband designed a great flat wall storage unit for many tubes of beads so I can see exactly what I need with a glance. I find drawer cabinets at tag sales and paint them cream to hang on the wall for small items. Although my supplies make my studio seem messy because they are in full view, I find it a breeze to walk around to each station and choose my embellishments for projects, If they were hidden behind doors or in drawers I would forget I have them.

thinking outside the box...

...or inside the box, as the case may be.

We live in a condo, so I'm constantly on the lookout for new storage ideas.  Since I enjoy making cards, I had to get creative when it came to storing my masterpieces (ha, ha...).

These photo boxes (the lid is not featured in the pictures) sit on the shelves in our living room and yet they hide some frequently used greeting cards.  So simple...and yet so nice to have on hand and easily accessible.

Storing your finished cards

Hello crafty storage readers! I was browsing the internet looking for ideas to store my finished cards, when I came across Kajikit's blog. She had seen something similar elsewhere on the internet, so decided to use the idea to create practical card storage for her finished cards.

Originally she kept her finished cards in a plastic box, but they were not organised into sections so to find a particular one meant that they all had to be removed. The storage pictured here is actually plastic shoe storage, well two of them to be precise! Kajikit has taped two together and then hung them on the side of her storage drawers.

She has labelled each pocket as follows:

• Love
• Friendship
• Birthday
• Thinking of you/Miss you
• Encouragement/general
• Children (I don't make a lot of kiddy cards...)
• Current Holiday
• Next Holiday
• Future Holidays
• Next Year (in case I make cards for a holiday that's already passed...)
• Any Hero Cards

Kajikit also comments that each pocket looks like it will hold up to 20 cards, which is great, and so easily accessible!

So how do you store YOUR finished cards? I still haven't full decided what to do with mine, but I love this idea!

Unmounted Stamp Tip

I saw this post about unmounted alpha stamps by Kristi-Anna and I thought what a great tip! 

It's simple but smart.

She said she "was a bit paranoid about putting it together, losing letters, not finding the letters I need, as they are not in the neat rows that the wood stamps are in.
So I came up with what I think is a brilliant, and possibly never seen before by anyone else, idea! :)

I put them BACK in the matrix!! No lost stamps. No searching for the elusive letter. :)"

Soraya's scraproom

My sweet friend Soraya loves visiting flea markets, where she finds nice vintage things for her scrapbooking. But she also found old storage boxes for 12"L.P. (vinyl records) and they are excelent to store scrapbookpaper and very cheap.

Spices & Buttons?

What does this (see pictures below) have to do with Crafty Storage?

A few months ago I decided that it was time to get my spices off the counter. Living in a condo, we have limited space in our small kitchen. So, I made some tins to hang on the fridge. That left me with an empty spice rack. It's no longer taking up space on our kitchen counter, instead, it's in our spare room (my make-shift craft room).

The spice rack is happy to hold colorful embellishments now!

Do you have any "unusual" crafty storage advice? I would love to hear from others! :)
